Compulsory Pilotage Torres Pilots presently have 30 contracted marine pilots licensed by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Pilots are only issued with a license after stringent compliance with Australian Government legislation and regulation which determine high standards for qualifications, experience, health and training. Additionally, pilots contracted to this Service are only appointed. from command and require navigating experience in vessels transiting the GBR. |
